PORTALES, N.M. – After nearly a week between games, the Greyhounds return to the diamond to face Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. The series starts on Sunday, Apr. 7, with a doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m. (MST) and 3 p.m. (MST). The getaway game is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (MST), on Monday, Apr. 8. The series was moved forward due to the expected thunderstorms.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS 

The Greyhounds (19-16, 12-15) start the series following a pair of defeats against Midwestern State. The series started with a 4-2 defeat, as the Mustangs scored four runs in one inning and held on in the final frames. In the second game, Eastern scored five runs in the sixth inning to confirm a Mikenzey Patterson led all hitters with three hits, while Samantha Gutierrez had three RBIs. In the series finale, Midwestern State shutout the Greyhounds during a 3-0 win.

ENMU enter April as one of the top hitting teams in the conference, landing in the top-five for most statistical hitting categories in the LSC: batting average (.332, 3^rd), on-base percentage (.411, 3^rd), slugging percentage (.532, 2^nd), hits (317, 4^th), runs (228, 3^rd), and RBI's (205, 3^rd). In the circle, Eastern New Mexico has a 4.65 ERA, striking out 136 hitters and allowing 180 runs from 273 hits.
 
Taighen Whitzel leads the team with a .448 batting average, pacing the team in hits (52), slugging percentage (.784), and walks (19). Alondra Vasquez leads the team in runs scored (34), along with RBIs (40). Patterson is just under the .400 batting average mark (.398), hitting lead-off for the Greyhounds with a team best five triples. Marissa Rodriguez and Emma Southerland are both 8-8 in the circle this season, with both throwing over 80 innings this season. Southerland paces the duo with 52 strikeouts, with Rodriguez holding a team best 3.46 ERA.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

At the time of writing, the Pioneers are in the middle of a three-game series with St. Mary's dropping the first two games 8-6 and 4-1. Before playing the Rattler, Texas Woman's fell in three straight games to Oklahoma Christian. As of now, the Pioneers hold a 16-24 record and a 14-15 conference record. TWU currently sits one position above the Greyhounds in the conference standings.
 
Texas Woman's sport a .239 batting average as a team, with 236 hits, scoring 126 runs, along with 109 RBIs. TWU has accumulated 66 extra base hits, posting 44 doubles, four triples, and 18 home runs. The Pioneers pitching staff leads the conference with 236 strikeouts, holding a 2.95 ERA. Texas Woman's has allowed 146 runs, on 251 hits, with opponents hitting just .253.
 
Alyssa LeBlanc stands out in the batter's box and the pitching circle, leading the team with a .348 batting average and a team low 3.29 ERA. LeBlanc is responsible for 147 strikeouts this season in 22 appearances and 15 starts, leading the conference and landing 10^th in the nation. In the batter's box, LeBlanc leads the team with 32 hits, 20 RBIs, and six home runs. Lauryn Davies is next for RBIs with 13, while Ciana Rodriguez has the second-best batting average (.269) with 25 hits. Jaycie Hall is the other primary starter, with 14 starts in the 18 games played. Hall sports a 4.19 ERA with 53 strikeouts.
