Tamia Smith and Timothy Frederick named to LSC all-academic team

The Lone Star Conference recognized two Greyhound student-athletes for their efforts in the classroom

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference has announced the 2024 outdoor track and field all-academic awards and two Eastern New Mexico student-athletes are on the list.

Tamia Smith and Timothy Frederick were recognized as members of the all-academic team.

Smith is in her final year with the track and field program. She is currently pursuing a master's in counseling after earning her bachelor's in criminal justice. The Texas native has served ENMU as the student body president and holds a graduate assistantship in student life.

"It feels amazing to know I can balance my grades and athletics," said Smith when told about the honor. "Being able to make it to conference and have a 4.0 in graduate school is tough. I am grateful."

Most recently, she earned second place at the 2024 LSC outdoor championships in shot put and fifth place in hammer throw.

Frederick is coming off a third place finish in the 200m at the conference meet. He is also going back to the NCAA DII outdoor championships for a second time as a Greyhound. The senior is pursuing a degree in physical education.

"Knowing that I got this recognition is a great feeling," said Frederick on being part of the all-academic team. "I'm proud of myself for being consistent at both academics and track."

Seven schools have honorees on both sides.
