Volleyball Hires Shelby Waltrip As A Graduate Assistant Ahead Of 2024 Season

Waltrip comes to ENMU after completing their undergraduate degree at Ferrum College

PORTALES, N.M. – Shelby Waltrip has joined the ENMU Volleyball staff ahead of the 2024 season as a graduate assistant. Waltrip comes to the Greyhounds after graduating from Ferrum College, spending three seasons as part of the volleyball program. Waltrip joins the staff with previous coaching and teaching experience, working with Timberlake Volleyball Club 17s program as and assistant coach. Additionally, Waltrip has had several internships as a teaching assistant working with 6th – 9th grade.

Waltrip graduated in the spring of 2024 from Ferrum College (Ferrum, Va.), being awarded a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Secondary History Education and a minor in history. While at Ferrum, Waltrip competed for the Panthers Volleyball program for three seasons. Serving as a captain each season, Waltrip compiled 451 kills (1.63 k/s), 1183 assists (4.29 a/s), 760 digs (2.75 d/s), 101.0 total blocks (0.4 b/s), and 580.5 points (2.10 p/s).
