LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2023-24 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors Tuesday afternoon. The minimum cumulative grade point average for consideration was a 3.50.
10 Greyhounds earned the accolade for their success in the classroom, the most in the coaching era of
Amanda Fefel. The Greyhounds hit double-digits for honorees for the first time since 2019, when the program had 12 awardees.
The honorees for Eastern include:
Ashley Burns,
Chanler Groves,
Cecy Jurado,
Ciara Loken,
Meilana Lopez,
Aylene Lucero,
Judith Osuna,
Grace Rofii,
Xochitl Trejo, and
Taighen Whitzel.
Whitzel earned the honor for the second consecutive season, while all other recipients have earned the honor for the first time. Earlier in the summer, Lucero, Rofii, and Whitzel earned an additional academic honor from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), landing on the 2023-24 Softball Academic All-District Team.
The NFCA recognized over 8,000 individuals as All-America Scholar-Athletes, along with the top-10 program's for cumulative GPA.
