Softball Selected 10th in 2025 LSC Softball Preseason Poll

Eastern garnered 315 points on voting from head coaches, sports information directors, and media members

RICHARDSON, Texas- With just seven days before opening day, the Lone Star Conference has announced the 2025 LSC Softball Preseason Poll as voted upon by coaches and representatives across the league on Friday morning. Eastern New Mexico softball finished in 10th place, earning 315 total points.
 
Last season's national champion, #1 UT Tyler landed in 1st place in the preseason poll, taking 34 first place votes and 672 total points. #13 West Texas A&M landed in 2nd place, winning the 2024 LSC Softball Tournament, with eight first place votes and 642 total points. #11 Angelo State followed in 3rd place, earning one first place vote with 590 points. #24 Oklahoma Christian landed in 4th place with 528 total points, last season Oklahoma Christian won the South Central Regional #1, defeating top seed West Texas A&M. Lubbock Christian and St. Mary's both garnered with 483 total points to finish tied 5th in the preseason poll.
 
In addition to the poll, the conference announced its preseason player and pitcher of the year, with UT Tyler's JT Smith winning LSC Preseason Player of the Year, while Angelo State's Cheyenne Ford was named LSC Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, Alondra Vasquez and Marissa Rodriguez were named preseason players and pitchers to watch, respectively. Vasquez garnered 1st Team all-conference honors last season along with a LSC Gold Glove honor at 3rd base. Vasquez batted .335 with a team high 51 RBIs and 13 home runs. Rodriguez was the top pitcher in the circle for Eastern in 2024, leading to a 3rd Team all-conference selection. Rodriguez complied a 13-11 record with four shutouts in 148.0 IP.

Head Coach Amanda Fefel begins their 4th season with the Greyhounds, assembling a 23-member squad for 2025. Vasquez and Rodriguez lead 15 returners, along with eight newcomers to the roster.
 
Eastern New Mexico begin the 2025 season in Los Lunas, N.M. for the South Central Region Crossover. ENMU will play five games over the weekend, beginning on Jan. 31 against Simon Fraser at 3 p.m. The weekend tournament is held Los Lunas Sports Complex.
