Greyhound men's basketball sits at No. 24 in latest NABC coaches poll

PORTALES, N.M. – For the first time since Jan. 7, 1996, Eastern New Mexico men's basketball is ranked in the top 25 poll. ENMU sits at No. 24 in the latest poll released on Dec. 23 after receiving 44 points.

"This program has come a long way from 2020," said head coach Daven Võ when asked about the team's ranking. "We just want to continue to get better and make Portales proud."

This is the 12th time in program history that the Greyhounds have been included in the top 25 list. The highest ranking for the team came in 1969 when the team sat as high as No. 8 in the nation. Harry Miller, Buddy Ball, Earl Diddle, and Daven Võ are the only head coaches in program history to have an Eastern team ranked in the polls.

Eastern New Mexico joins No. 8 Lubbock Christian, No. 13 St. Edward's, No. 14 West Texas A&M, and No. 20 St. Mary's as the five teams ranked from the Lone Star Conference. The Greyhounds sit atop the conference standings as they hold a 10-1 (3-0 LSC) record. They are one of three teams undefeated in LSC action this season.

ENMU will sit at No. 24 in the rankings for two weeks as the poll will not be revoted on until Jan. 6. The next matchup for the Hounds will be Jan. 2 as they travel to Sul Ross State to restart conference play. They will travel to Silver City for a battle between fellow Land of Enchantment institution, Western New Mexico, on Jan. 4.

The last time a team from Eastern New Mexico was ranked in any sport came during the 2017 football season.
