Eastern battles St. Edward's on Monday afternoon in an LSC doubleheader

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Softball has a quick turnaround as they face St. Edward's in a conference road doubleheader on Monday, February 24. First pitch of each game is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (MST).

SERIES INSIGHT

  • Eastern New Mexico and St. Edward's have played each other just 25 times in the all-time series, with ten conference meetings. SEU leads the all-time series 18-7, along with a 6-4 advantage in conference games.
  • Most of the games have been at a neutral site (12 games), with the Greyhounds finding just one win in Austin in their seven games played on the road.
  • Eastern did find success in 2024, claiming a home three-game sweep against the Hilltoppers, the first sweep of SEU in program history. During the home series, the Greyhounds outscored St. Edward's 29-6, winning a pair of games by run rule.
  • In the Greyhounds last series in Austin, ENMU lost all three games, with two of the three games being very close. Game one was a shutout as the Hilltoppers won 3-0, then the series finale went to 10 innings, with SEU prevailing 2-1.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

Eastern's team batting average stands at .348, while combining for 117 RBIs. ENMU's pitching sports a 3.87 ERA, allowing 74 runs with 109 hits along with 90 strikeouts.
  • Leading from the batter's box, Aylene Lucero has the team highs in batting average (.558), runs (25), hits (29), and RBIs (26). Valeria Contreras is an important bat in the lineup, hitting .464 with 26 hits and 23 RBIs. Alondra Vasquez comes off a four hit and three RBI series against St. Mary's, holding 20 hits and 17 RBIs on the season.
