Eastern travel to San Angelo to face #4 Angelo State in a LSC doubleheader

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Softball faces a tough conference opponent on Sunday, March 16, traveling to play #4 Angelo State for a doubleheader. First pitch from San Angelo is set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (MST).

SERIES INSIGHT

  • Eastern New Mexico trail in the all-time series, 64-11, while the Rambelles have a 47-5 record against the Greyhounds in conference play.
  • In the last ten meetings, the Greyhounds have taken two games from the Rambelles. ENMU last beat Angelo State at home last season, winning 3-1 in the series opener. Eastern scored two runs in the 5th inning to complete comeback victory.

  • The Greyhounds have a .307 batting average this season, scoring 183 runs from 240 hits. ENMU has provided 46 doubles, six triples, and 25 home runs. For pitching, ENMU sports a 4.22 ERA, striking out 150 hitters with 139 runs allowed, on 193 hits.
  • Aylene Lucero leads the team in batting average (.430), runs scored (33), hits (40), and walks (15). Supporting the Greyhounds scoring, Valeria Contreras has a .376 batting average on the season, driving in 25 runs with 35 hits. Christina Meneses leads the team with nine doubles, while Alondra Vasquez leads the team in both RBIs (28) and home runs (7).
  • Miranda Guillen is the team leader in ERA (3.18), holding opponents to a .191 batting average. Angelo State swept Western New Mexico in its last LSC series, winning 6-0 and 6-5.
  • This season, Angelo State has a .293 batting average, finding 158 runs with 198 hits. ASU is a power hitting team, holding a .476 slugging percentage, with 39 doubles, 16 triples, and 17 home runs. The Rambelles have a dominant pitching staff, with a 1.89 ERA and an opposing batting average of just .224. The team has struck out 138 batters, allowing just 64 runs with 49 earned runs.
  • Laylonna Applin has been the leading force on offense, hitting .471, with 30 runs scored, 40 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, and 34 RBIs, leading the team in each category.
