Eastern plays final home game of the season against Lubbock Christian on Friday afternoon

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Softball plays their final home games of the season on Friday, April 18, battling Lubbock Christian in a LSC West Division clash. First pitch of the opening game is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the second game expected to begin at 4 p.m. ENMU Softball will be honoring its 10 graduating seniors after the conclusion of the second game.

SERIES INSIGHT

  • Eastern have beaten the Chaparrals just once in the all-time series, with LCU enjoying a 46-1 record against ENMU.
  • The one win for the Greyhounds occurred at home last season, with a walk-off home run propelling Eastern to victory, 4-3, over LCU (2/27/24).

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

Eastern's pitching staff has a 4.93 ERA, recording 256 strikeouts, with 269 runs allowed, on 345 hits.
  • Four different Greyhounds supply a batting average north of .350 (of eligible hitters), with Aylene Lucero hitting leadoff and batting .420. Lucero paces the squad for hits (66) and runs scored (53). Christina Meneses paces the squad for doubles with 17, with 40 RBIs being second on the team just behind Alondra Vasquez (42). Vasquez set a single season record for 30 walks yesterday, while also leading the team in home runs (10) and slugging percentage (.664).
  • In the circle, Miranda Guillen has led the Greyhounds hurling a .3.14 ERA with 127 strikeouts with a 13-5 record. Cierra Smith started the first game of the doubleheader on Wednesday, holding a 2-4 record with an 8.48 ERA. Jordan Rivera made relief appearances in both games for the Hounds, making 24 appearances with a 5.95 ERA.

SCOUTING THE CHAPARRALS

  • Recently, Lubbock Christian was listed in the first NCAA Regional Rankings of the season, being one of ten teams under consideration for selection to the national tournament. Winning their last six games in a row, LCU have a 30-18 record, while supporting a 21-17 conference standing.
  • LCU are hitting .316 on the season, scoring 296 runs on 406 hits. The Chaps have recorded 93 doubles on the season, hitting 41 home runs for a .500 slugging percentage. In the circle, Lubbock Christian sport a 3.43 ERA, allowing 174 runs over 306.0 innings.
  • Kendra Levesque was recently named LSC Hitter of the Week, leading the conference with 20 doubles this season, while leading the Chaps with 10 home runs. Baylea Myers leads the team in batting average, hitting .395 this season. Myers and Kadin Vire both have a team best 40 runs scored. While Levesque paces the squad for RBIs with 42.
  • Teoni Lamb is the ace for the Chaps, starting 20 games this season with a team low 3.25 ERA. Freshman Natalee Gray threw a no-hitter last weekend against UT Permian Basin, as she has started 11 games with a 3.48 ERA. Emily Dix contributes a 4.88 ERA with a 7-5 record.
