LSC announces 2025 volleyball preseason polls and players to watch

ENMU selected 14th in LSC Preseason Polls

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference (LSC) announced the 2025 preseason volleyball polls and preseason player of the year honors on Monday morning, with the Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team landing the 16th spot heading into the 2025 season.
 
The Greyhounds received 204 points in the poll and the 16th slot in the 18-team league; ahead of Cameron (116 points) and Sul Ross State (107 points). The preseason poll is voted upon by coaches, sports information directors, and media representatives across the league.
 
Defending LSC tournament champion and NCAA Division II national semifinalist Angelo State is predicted to win the LSC volleyball title with 933 points and 30 first-place votes. West Texas A&M came in behind ASU with 919 points and 18 first-place votes.
 
 In addition to preseason players of the year, the LSC also announced players to watch, with Sophia Valdez (Offensive), Imahni Brown (Defensive), and Jayla Yoder (Setter) being recognized.
 
"The team has spent a lot of time in the gym over the off-season, and we are just excited to be out on the court and competing," stated first-year head coach Karli Bustos. "We know the conference schedule is going to be tough, so we are really looking forward to a fun and exciting season and working towards our goals."
 
The Greyhounds begin their 2025 campaign at the Western New Mexico Invite on September 5 against New Mexico Highlands at 9 a.m. and Sul Ross State at 4:30 p.m.
