PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico University head softball coach
Amanda Fefel has announced the addition of
Meilana Lopez as the program's new graduate assistant for the upcoming season.
"Having Meilana as an addition to our coaching staff will help elevate our outfielders in the next level of play," Fefel stated. "Since Meilana played under Coach Smith and I for two years, she fully understands our culture, expectations, and goals as a program. We love having our own return and give back."
As coach Fefel stated, Meilana has spent her last two season here at Eastern. Prior to her time at Eastern, the La Habra, Calif. native also spent two seasons at Paris Junior College. Meilana is not only a standout outfielder but also a strong hitter. During her time at Paris JC, she tallied 64 hits, 52 RBIs, and 40 runs scored. In the 2025 season, she earned a fielding percentage of 1.000 and a total fielding percentage of .970 from her time at Eastern.
Some of Meilana's duties and responsibilities will include assisting with outfield/hitting, social media projects, camps and clinics, recruiting in the pacific west coast region, and community service efforts.
