Both basketball programs included in NCAA DII regional rankings

ENMU men's and women's basketball find themselves on initial regional rankings list

INDIANAPOLIS – Both Eastern New Mexico women's and men's basketball are included in the "under consideration" regional rankings. The first list for NCAA DII programs always lists schools in alphabetical order and chooses the top 10 institutions chasing a bid to the national tournament.

"Our ultimate goal is to go to the national tournament and win it," said men's basketball head coach Daven Võ when talking about the rankings list. "This is a step in the right direction to be considered. We have higher expectations than to be just considered. Our goal is to win the region. This is a step in the right direction."

ENMU women's basketball is one of six Lone Star Conference schools included in the initial list. The LSC institutions are Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, St. Mary's (TX), Texas Woman's, UT Tyler, and West Texas A&M. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is represented by Adams State, Colorado Mesa, Colorado-Colorado Springs, and Western Colorado.

Greyhound men's basketball joins seven other programs from the LSC in the rankings. Those schools include DBU, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, St. Edward's, St. Mary's (TX), West Texas A&M, and Western New Mexico. The three institutions represented by the RMAC are Black Hills State, Colorado Mesa, and Fort Lewis.

The next rankings list will come out on Feb. 25 and will have the teams rated numerically.

Eastern New Mexico women's basketball is seeking back-to-back appearances in the national tournament. The men's basketball team are seeking to be in the tournament for the second time in three seasons.

The NCAA DII national tournament bracket will be released on Sunday, March 8.
