SB Four Bases: No. 1 West Texas A&M

Eastern New Mexico softball will face No. 1 West Texas A&M in a doubleheader

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico softball is back on the road for another weekend to face No. 1 West Texas A&M in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28, at 12 and 2 p.m. MT in Canyon, Texas.

 

The Hounds swept Midwestern State this past weekend (11-2 and 13-1) and fell to Lubbock Christian in a pair of games (0-11 and 3-4).
 
Eastern currently holds a 14-13 overall record and a conference record of 10-10. The Greyhounds hold a team batting average of .288, a slugging percentage of .451, on-base percentage of .412, and they have earned 144 RBIs, scored 159 runs, and 22 home runs.
 
ENMU freshman Samantha Parisi earned Lone Star Conference freshman of the week after hitting .714 with one double, one triple, and four RBIs. She also scored four runs and walked once with zero strikeouts. Parisi has reached base in 12 consecutive games.
 
Offensively Christina Meneses leads the Greyhounds with a .409 batting average with 48 total bases and five home runs in 27 total games. Samantha Parisi follows closely behind with a batting average of .384, a .477 on-base percentage, and 32 total bases.
 
Seneca Aarstad is also among the offensive leaders for Eastern hitting .348 on the season with 16 RBIs, 28 total bases, and a .609 slugging percentage. Emily Marsh hits .316 with 14 RBIs and Marissa Rodriguez has a batting average of .293 with nine RBIs.
 
Marissa Rodriguez also leads in the circle with a 7-0 winning record, a 3.91 ERA in 53.2 innings pitched, allowing 62 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 27 batters and posting a .281 opponent batting average.
 
Miranda Guillen leads in the circle as well with a 6-5 winning record, an ERA of 4.63 in 65.0 innings, recording 64 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .290 batting average.
 
Angelina Rubalcava holds a 1-3 record with a 7.08 ERA in 27.2 innings pitched, allowing 35 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 24 batters and holding a .292 opponent batting average.
 
West Texas holds an overall record of 29-3 and a conference record of 19-1. They have a team batting average of .303, a .958 fielding percentage, and an ERA of 5.32.
 
The Greyhounds have faced the Lady Buffs a total of 73 times since their first match up in 2006 which resulted in a win for the Greyhounds. The Hounds were swept by the Lady Buffs earlier this season in their first games of conference play.
