Greyhound men's rodeo earns major win at collegiate competition in Hereford

HEREFORD, Texas – Eastern New Mexico rodeo had a memorable weekend at the rodeo hosted by West Texas A&M this weekend. The men's team took first place overall and the women finished in eighth.

"What a weekend," stated head coach John Sharp after the rodeo. "Very happy to see our men's team accomplish a feat that has not been done in practically two decades. Cutter did well in tie down and Jacob continues to set the bar higher each week. This is a fun group to coach."

Four different members of the six-person scoring squad ended up with 30+ points for the Hounds. Three of them scored in triple digits.

Jacob Walters won the men's all-around title for the second consecutive week. The Texas Tech transfer made it back in tie down roping by splitting 9/10 in the long round. Walters improved his 13.8s time to 11.4s in the short go and earned 60 points in the event with a fourth place short round nod and a fourth place average. He also made it in team roping with times of 6.6s and 14.9s to split 1/2 in the first go and fifth in Saturday night's finale. He took third overall in the average.

Cutter Pareo ended up taking second in tie down roping after times of 12.5s and 10.1s. He had the fastest time among competitors on Saturday but finished second overall in the average. He earned 130 team points from the event.

Orran Hart had two great runs in steer wrestling this weekend. He posted times of 6.6s and 5.1s. His quickest time ranked first in the short go and average in Hereford. Duncan Adamson also made the short round in the event. He posted a fourth place nod in the opening round on a 8.0s time.

Georgia Lieuallen, Gracie Hillrud, and Shaeden Marr made it back in barrels with Hillrud's 18.26s being the final entry into Saturday night's final. Lieuallen had the Greyhounds best time in the short go at 18.22s to earn fifth in that round and in the average. Despite securing 40 points, she was not part of this weekend's scoring squad.

Both Mackinzee Dermody and Marr made it back in the short go in goat tying. Dermody scored the only ENMU team points as she went 7.8s in the long round to take sixth in that round.

Marr was one of two cowgirls in the running for the women's all-around. She came up just short after suffering an injury in goat tying Saturday night.

Eastern New Mexico will close the 2025-26 regular season at South Plains. The rodeo is slated for April 23-25.
