PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico baseball team will head to San Angelo, Texas, on Friday to take on Angelo State in their final regular season series of 2015.
The last time the two teams met, the Greyhounds (15-28, 10-19 LSC) shocked the Rams (32-14, 19-13 LSC) by taking three of four games from Angelo and coming two runs away from sweeping the series. That is just what ENMU is looking to do this weekend, as their only hope of making the playoffs lies in them winning all three games and having another team lose its three games.
That team is Tarleton State University who will take on the Lone Star Conference's top seeded team, Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Texans (20-20, 13-16 LSC) are currently three games ahead of the Greyhounds but it is easy to imagine that the No. 1 team in the conference can pull off the sweep at home against Tarleton.
The Greyhounds had a slight setback in last weekend's series against Cameron University, dropping 2-of-3 games to the Aggies. Luckily for ENMU, Cameron has two more losses on the season than the Greyhounds, so they remained behind ENMU in the conference standings.
ENMU is 17-29 against Angelo State over the series history. The last time the two teams met ENMU won 5-4, 3-1 and 5-2, dropping one game in the series 4-2 to the Rams.
