PORTALES, N.M. –The Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team opens the 2017 calendar year with a Land of Enchantment showdown with Western New Mexico. The Greyhounds enter the matchup with the Mustangs at 6-8 and look to extend the winning streak to three games and record their first Lone Star Conference win of the new year after knocking off Texas Wesleyan and Wayland Baptist the last time out.

"Western New Mexico is a tough team that is ready to get on a streak and make a run at the second half of the Lone Star Conference schedule," ENMU Head Coach
Tres Segler said. "They are quickly adapting to the physicality of the LSC and I think they're improving each game. I know they are going to be ready for us and we need to compete at our best so that we give ourselves the best opportunity to get a hard-earned road win in the Lone Star."

Eastern is led offensively by senior guard
CoRnell Neal, averaging 15.6 points/game, 4.3 assists/game and 3.2 rebounds/game. Junior guards
Marquise Harris and
Joe Clarke also are strong contributors on the offensive end. Harris is scoring 14.9 points and 3.2 boards while Clarke is shooting at a .338 clip and is coming off a 20-point performance against WBU.

Defensively, junior forward
Chris Lewis leads the squad, pulling down 8.0 rebounds while putting up strong numbers on the offensive end as well, shooting at a .519 clip.
Andre Hughes and
Shawn Shelton both come up big on the glass, averaging 5.9 and 4.5, respectively.
