PORTALES, NM —Last week,
Jesus Garcia scored the game-winning goal at
Dallas Baptist to snap a seven-game skid for the Greyhounds. Eastern also held a lead over NCAA Division II powerhouse
St Edwards, in the final match of a three-week road swing. Tomorrow night, the Greyhounds will return to Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium the first time in nearly a month.
The homestand will open against UT-Permian Basin on Thursday, October 19, at 7 p.m. MT. An afternoon (1 p.m.) contest against West Texas A&M will be played on Saturday.

The Falcons bring a 6-6-1 record to Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium, with a 5-5 mark in Heartland Conference play. UTPB has been on a hot streak of late and has won its last three matches and is ranked tenth in the South Central Region. Brandon Lee paces UT Permian Basin with 12 goals and a pair of assists. Alec Sproule and Lucas Gomes have split time in net for the Falcons and have combined for a 2.45 goals-against average.
The Greyhounds have a 5-5-1 record against UT Permian Basin with a 2-2-1 mark at home. The teams have split the last two meetings in Portales, with the Falcons claiming a
1-0 win last season and the
Hounds posting a 3-0 victory two years ago.
On Oct. 13, 2015, Roberto Zatarain connected on the game-winning goal early in the second half, with Cesar Quintero and
Ignacio Dicun adding insurance goals, leading to a 3-0 victory for the Greyhounds.
James Gutierrez made five saves to earn the shutout. The Greyhounds held a 23-12 lead in total shots.

West Texas A&M has an 8-4-1 overall record with a 6-3-1 mark in Heartland play. The Buffaloes are currently ranked fifth in the South Central Region. Julio Vargas and Callum Chalindor each have seven goals and have combined for five assists. Alexander Vencel has been WT's primary goalkeeper and boasts a 0.91 goals against average with a .774 save percentage.
The Greyhounds closed the 2016 regular season in dramatic fashion with a
2-1 upset of West Texas A&M. After a scoreless first half,
Ignacio Dicun's pass set up
Omary Shabani to score the game's first goal at the 53:09 mark. WT's Simon Sebbah managed to tie the game less than four minutes later on a breakaway.
Ryan Sinclair scored on a free kick from 33 yards out with just over 20 minutes to play and the Hounds never looked back.
James Gutierrez made six saves as the Greyhounds clinched a berth in the Heartland Conference tournament.
The Buffaloes avenged that loss in the
opening round of the conference tournament the following week.
