LUBBOCK, TEXAS – Malethabo Seema captured the women's 800-meter dash in the final day of competition at the 2022 LSC ITF Championships. The women's program totaled 37 points over the two days, finishing in 6^th place. Meanwhile, the Men's program totaled 7 points overall, landing in 9^th place.
 
M.Seema took control of the field in the 800-meter dash, only trailing the first 200 meters and then led for the remainder of the race. M.Seema crossed the line in a personal record time of 2:16.12, which stands as the 5^th fastest time in program history (2:15.73 when adjusting for altitude). M.Seema had won the outdoor 800-meter dash in 2021, and landed in 3^rd during the 2020 LSC ITF Championship. The last Greyhound to win the 800 at an indoor championship was Neri Getraide in 2020.
 
Arianna Hayde placed sixth in the triple jump after a leap of 11.42m (37' 5.75"). Hayde's mark was the second-best jump of the season, and is second in program history (behind her jump of 11.60m earlier this season).
 
Tamia Smith earned the Hounds a point in team scoring for the shot put, with a throw of 12.46m (40' 10.5") to place eighth. Smith's mark at the LSC ITF Championship was a season best, and is third in the ENMU program record books.
 
Japhet Toroitich earned two points towards the team scoring after registering a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 49.00 flat.
 
Other results included Lethabo Seema and Marta Pascoa posting times of 5:24.62 (9^th) and 5:37.68 (13^th) in the mile, respectively. In the women's 3000, Aminata Kenyawani and Dorcas Kosgei placed 9^th and 11^th with times of 10:38.70 (seasons best time) and 10:55.96, respectively. Kelvin Kipkemboi marked a season best time of 8:53.38 in the 3000, crossing the line in 9^th place. In the women's 4x400 meter relay, the Hounds claimed seventh place with a time of 4:04.04. The team of Alisha Hayde, Kaylyn De la Rosa, M.Seema, and L.Seema earned two points in team scoring.

"Some pretty good performances today, another great win for (Malethabo) Seema in the 800, and it was great to pick up some points in other events" said Head Track & Field Coach Jeff Kavalunas. "Not as strong as day one, but everyone competed very hard this weekend".

The Hounds now rest and prepare for the outdoor season, starting off at the West Texas A&M Spring Break Classic, on Mar. 18, in Canyon, Texas.
