PORTALES, N.M. – ENMU men's and women's track and field will be competing at the 2023 Lone Star Conference indoor championships in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday and Sunday.
Eight Greyhounds will represent Eastern at the conference championship. All will be discussed over the ensuing points in the article. The events are set to take place all day Saturday and Sunday at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center. The entire meet will be broadcast by the
Lone Star Conference Digital Network and live stats will be posted

1.) Noe's Notes – Freshman
Noe Ybaben will be participating in his first LSC championship. He qualified to compete in both the weight throw and shotput. He is one of three freshmen in each event. He has a top mark of 13.15m in the shotput, which he threw at last week's TTU Jarvis Scott Open. His top mark of the season in the weight throw was at the New Mexico Team Open as he tossed 12.68m. The weight throw is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and the shotput will take place on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.
2.) Awesome Ashlynn – Freshman
Ashlynn Evans is one of four Hounds to qualify in more than one event and will be competing on both days of the meet. Her top mark in the long jump came last week with a 5.59m (18' 4.25") leap. At the UNM Team Open she leapt 10.52m (34' 6.25") in the triple jump for her best result of the year. Evans will compete on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT in the long jump and in the triple jump on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.
3.) True To A T(amia) – The senior thrower now owns the top-four marks in school history in the shotput and will likely claim all five after this weekend's championship. Her top mark this season in the shotput came at the Friday Night Kick Axe Open as she set a mark of 13.38m. Her career-best mark in the weight throw was in 2022 as she tossed 14.15m. Smith will participate in the weight on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CT and compete in the shotput on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.
4.) Hype for Hall - Tatiana Hall will also be throwing in the weight throw. The event will take place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CT. Hall's top throw this season was 12.90m (42' 4") at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic two weeks ago.
5.) Timothy's Trouble – Newcomer sprinter
Timothy Frederick will take the track in the 60m and 200m races. His top 60m time is 6.80 at the TTU Jarvis Scott Open and his best indoor 200m is 21.45 seconds. The first round of the 60m race begins Saturday at 4:30 p.m. CT and the 200m first round will follow at 6:35 p.m. If he advances the 60m will be at 1 p.m. CT and the 200m will be at 1:40 p.m. CT on Sunday.
6.) Go Graham Go –
Paige Graham will represent ENMU in the pole vault this weekend. The junior from Julesburg, Colorado will come into the meet with her best result coming at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque as she cleared 2.80m (9' 2.25") last month. She will compete on Saturday night at 5 p.m. CT.
7.) Cheers to Cheruiyot – ENMU will have
Devis Cheruiyot run the 800m at the conference championships. His top time in the event this season came at the TTU Jarvis Scott Open as he ran the race in 1:56.74. The senior will participate in the first round of the event on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. If he advances to the finals, the event will run on Sunday at 1:20 p.m. CT.
8.) First-Timers Only –
Kennedy Ulmer is one of four ENMU student-athletes competing in the championships who were not on the team in 2022. The freshman qualified to be in the shotput event which is set for Sunday at 12 p.m. Ulmer's best throw in 2023 is an 11.70m (38' 4.75") toss at the Friday Night Kick Axe Open. She will look to hit a personal best at the conference championships.
