PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Softball welcomes Lubbock Christian University for a midweek clash in a three-game series at Greyhound Softball Field. The two teams start with a single game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Then, a doubleheader wraps up the series, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDSÂ
Eastern New Mexico (13-4, 6-3) have won five straight game and come off a sweep of St. Edward's. The Greyhounds started off the series with an 8-0 win in five innings. The Greyhounds used seven runs in the 3
rd inning to get the advantage, then a solo home run from
Taighen Whitzel in the 4
th inning sealed the win. Then, ENMU clinched the series with a 6-1 victory in game two of the series.
Emma Southerland tossed a complete game, while only giving up one run. In the series finale,
Alondra Vasquez and
Samantha Gutierrez combined for 11 RBIs and six hits in a 15-5 mercy rule win.
Marissa Rodriguez picked up two wins in the circle of the weekend.
Entering the midweek series, the Greyhounds lead the conference in batting average (.373), slugging percentage (.614), hits (171), runs (152), and RBIs (137). Nationally, the Greyhound are in the top-10 for batting average, doubles (41), on-base percentage (.464), slugging percentage, and runs scored. Additionally, ENMU has swiped 28 bases (3
rd in LSC) with 72 walks this season. In the circle, ENMU holds a 3.61 ERA, striking out 65 batters and holding hitters to a .281 opposing batting average.

After a hot week in the batters box,
Alondra Vasquez was named
Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week. Vasquez added 11 hits and 12 RBIs to their season total last week, leading the conference with 28 on the season. In fact, three Greyhounds top the LSC RBI list: Vasquez (28), Whitzel (27), and Gutierrez (25). Whitzel leads the way for batting average .577 (2
nd in LSC) and hits (30, leads LSC).
Mikenzey Patterson is averaging just two hits per game, holding a .526 batting average in 11 games. Southerland paces the team with a 5-1 record in six starts and four complete game, while Rodriguez has a team low 2.56 and team high 38.1 innings pitched.
SCOUTING THE CHAPARRALS
Lubbock Christian (6-7, 5-4) claimed the last game of their three-game series with Texas Woman's, winning 6-3 over the Pioneers. In the first two games, the Chaps dropped a pair of one-run games, falling 2-1 and 1-0.
Entering the final week of February, the Chaparrals have a .292 batting average, scoring 44 runs from 101 hits. In terms of extra base hits, LCU has 14 doubles, one triple, and eight home runs with 40 RBIs. Lubbock Christian also has 34 walks with five stolen bases. The Chaps have a strong pitching staff, sporting a 1.96 ERA, giving up 35 runs with three saves this season. LCU has recorded 56 strikeouts, with opponents holding a .223 batting average.
Hope Banales leads the team with a .419 batting average, with a team best 18 hits and eight RBIs. Tiarra Delrosario has recorded 15 hits for the Chaps, while Ally Oyanguren has seven RBIs. Additionally, Banales leads the team with three steals, and Delrosario has a team best seven walks. In the circle, Teoni Lamb has a team best 0.72 ERA (2
nd in LSC), surrendering just four runs from 18 hits. Maxine Valdez, who threw a no-hitter in the last series, has a 1.95 ERA with a team best 30 strikeouts.
