RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference announced the indoor track and field all-conference honorees and three ENMU student-athletes made the list.
First team honorees include
Timothy Frederick and
Grizell Scarlett.
Frederick scored the third most points out of any student-athlete at the 2024 championships. He helped the program with 16.5 points total. Frederick posted two podium finishes with a first place nod in the 200m and a third place result in the 400m.
"I worked really hard to get these accomplishments," said Frederick on the recognition. "I'm happy to see that my hard work is paying off. God is good."
Scarlett scored the 14th most points at the conference meet with 12.5 total. She earned a win in the 60m at the meet in Norman.
"I have been putting in the hard work and to see that is paying off, I am very grateful," said Scarlett on the honor. "I am very proud of myself."
Tamia Smith earned eight points for a second-place result in the shot put. Based on the finish, the graduate student is a second-team all-conference honoree. Her third attempt of the competition went 13.97m (45-10). The throw was just 1' 5.5" shy of the top toss of the day.
"It's amazing to be all-conference," said Smith on the news. "It shows the hard, dedicated hours spent working towards my athletic goal. It doesn't mean I'm done reaching my limits as I aspire to reach nationals."
Frederick and Scarlett will compete at this week's NCAA DII indoor track and field nationals. Smith will get back into action in a little over a week as the team heads to Canyon, Texas to begin the outdoor season.
