Hall of Honors
Eastern New Mexico University athletics has always been able to count on the support of Charles Bennett in whatever way it was needed. He also was a member of the 1971 baseball team and a 1981 graduate. Bennett’s tireless efforts have helped turn Lewis-Cooper Arena into a top-notch facility for the ENMU rodeo team. As part of his first project, Bennett worked in an eight-foot ditch during a hot summer day, to help install a 10-foot drain pipe. His work continued in maintaining the arena for Eastern’s College “Daze” Rodeo, which has evolved into one of the top events in the region. He has continued to work on the arena over the years and donated over 150 semi loads of dirt to assist in maintaining the facility. Bennett also has been part of the “Catch the Vision” group, which is dedicated to improving the College “Daze” Rodeo each year. He assisted in revising the concession stand for the event and helping to televise parts of the event at the arena. In addition to his work with the rodeo program, Charles Bennett is a key part of the Greyhound Club board and has helped with the volleyball, baseball, and basketball programs.
