Col. C. Wayne Calhoun played football for ENMU from 1948-50. He started his career as a walk-on but earned a scholarship in 1950. Calhoun helped the team claim its first New Mexico Athletic Conference title in 1950 and made second team all-conference. He helped the track team win a conference title in 1950. Calhoun served in Korea in 1954 and had six tours of duty in Southeast Asia. He also was a Commander of a B-52 Unit and completed 108 combat missions. He received numerous commendations.
