Dan Hays was a two-time Honorable Mention All-American basketball player for the Greyhounds from 1965-68. During his junior and senior seasons he was a team captain and the leading scorer each year for Head Coach Harry Miller. Along with his first NAIA District 7 and All-American honors Hays received the Al Garten Most Valuable Player Award and Greatest Greyhound. He was ENMU’s leading scorer in the 1967 NAIA National Tournament and registered the first dunk in Greyhound Arena history on the facility’s opening night in February 1967 against Hardin Simmons.
