Maegan Rhoten Paulson played softball for Eastern New Mexico from 2001-04. She was a utility player for the program. Rhoten Paulson was a four-time all-Lone Star Conference honoree and was named a four-time awardee as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete. She also earned Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors in 2002 and 2003. In 2001, she was a key member of the team that won the regional championship and earned a fifth-place finish in the national finals. ENMU Athletics awarded her the "Greatest Zia" in 2003.

Rhoten Paulson came to Portales after competing for St. Pius in Albuquerque in three sports (volleyball, basketball, softball). She sits in the top ten in school history in career games played (200), games started (197), at bats (599), doubles (42), triples (8), home runs (21), runs batted in (125), total bases (293), hit by pitch (15), and sacrifice flies (6). In the circle, she is in the top ten in school history in earned run average (2.95), opponent batting average (.266), strikeouts/7-innings (6.31), wins (25), appearances (72), starts (62), complete games (42), innings (387.0), strikeouts (349), strikeouts looking (97), batters faced (1796), fly outs caused (397), ground outs caused (343), caught stealing (28). Her 97 strikeouts looking ranks first in program history. She now lives in California with her husband, Jeff, and daughters Paisley and Addie. At ENMU, she studied business administration.
