Dr. Jay Gurley was a basketball guard at ENMU for three seasons from 1958-59 through 1960-61. He graduated from ENMU in 1962 and later received M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees from Eastern. He also worked in the Clovis Municipal District and became Assistant Director of ENMU’s Upward Bound Project. Gurley also served as Dean of the School of Education at ENMU. Gurley is a President Emeritus of ENMU and his career in public education in New Mexico spanned more than three decades
