Dr. Steven Gamble served as Eastern New Mexico's president for 16 years. During his time at ENMU, he was influential in beginning men's soccer, women's soccer, and softball to the University. He also helped bring back men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field to Eastern. He was known as "Eastern's number one fan" during his presidency and has stayed that way since his retirement. Some of the major facility upgrades for the department included the weight room and building of Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium, formerly Greyhound Stadium.
