Eldon Wetsel graduated from ENMU in 1961 after receiving four letters in football and two in track & field. In 1960 he was the University’s first Academic All-American and had the highest grade-point average of any player on the 1959 and 1960 teams. Wetsel was named Hardest Running Back in 1959 followed by a 1960 selection for the Hugh T. Brassell Award. He also was chosen as Greatest Greyhound in 1960
